Hello fellow art enthusiasts!

Last month tree imagery caught my eye and spoke to my artist’s heart. Right now, the tree within the landscape is the theme I am exploring. Most of these paintings are smaller- 9×12, 6×8 in preparation for the Western Loudoun Artist Studio Tour on June 1st and 2nd. My guest studio will be set up at Franklin Park Arts Center in Purcellville, Stop #26.

Support for the arts is important. Artists are the conduit for expression of a higher ideal, leading to a kinder, gentler society. I am happy to be donating a painting to the upcoming $50 Friends 5×7 Art Works!. The proceeds from this art show and sale benefit Friends of Leesburg Public Arts. The annual event takes place once again at Tryst Gallery on Saturday, May 4th with doors opening at 3pm. All art will sell for $50 each. Tryst Gallery is located at 312 East Market St., Suite F, Leesburg, VA 20176.

And now for a little more history from the old portfolio case. I promised one of my old best friends that I would include a piece of art she would recognize. This goes back more decades than I’d like to admit.

Oasis was our high school literary magazine that included poetry, short stories and art. Don’t ask me why I illustrated the cover with this sad faced clown. I haven’t a clue nor would I go back and do it again. I think clowns are creepy, like the one in Stephen King’s ‘It’.
